Barzagli suffered injury relapse

Andrea Barzagli’s extended absence from the Juventus set-up has been explained away as an injury relapse.

The defender underwent surgery in the summer on a foot injury and was initially seen as on the way to recovery in mid-September, when he was named in a first Bianconero squad for Week 2’s clash with Udinese, to sit on the bench.

The defender underwent surgery in the summer on a foot injury and was initially seen as on the way to recovery in mid-September, when he was named in a first Bianconero squad for Week 2’s clash with Udinese, to sit on the bench.

However, the 33-year-old has since not featured in Massimiliano Allegri’s squads and the Gazzetta dello Sport today update on potentially why.

The pink daily reports that Barzagli in fact suffered a relapse in his recovery after that Udinese fixture and his recuperation has been hit by persistent pain in his right ankle.
