World Cup winner Andrea Barzagli has taken on a new role as assistant manager of the Italy youth teams, from Under-15 to Under-20 level.

The former defender had rejected a similar position at Juventus, having briefly held it under Maurizio Sarri in the 2019-20 campaign.

It was announced by the FIGC that Barzagli will have a general role helping the coaches at the various men’s national youth teams up to age Under-20.

Barzagli is also going to be working for streaming channel DAZN as a pundit for the 2021-22 season.

Paolo Nicolato was confirmed as Italy Under-21 coach, with Alberto Bollini for the Under-20s, Carmine Nunziata Under-19, Daniele Franceschini Under-18, Bernardo Corradi Under-17 and Daniele Zoratto Under-16.

A new entry is Massimiliano Favo for the Under-15 team.

The Federation also announced the creation of a new Football Analysis area, bringing together Scouting and Match Analysis staff, who will report directly to coach Roberto Mancini and the other men and women’s coaches.
