Juventus centre-back Andrea Barzagli sees “four crucial games” between now and the end of the season “but I don’t think the league will be decided on Saturday”.

The Bianconeri are now only one point ahead of Napoli, and they face the daunting prospect of a Derby d’Italia with Inter on Saturday night.

“If I have to look from now to the end we have four crucial games, but I don’t think the league will be decided on Saturday,” Barzagli told Sky.

“That said, Saturday is a match which is worth a lot for us, and for Inter too. It’s also really keenly felt by the fans of both teams, so it’s a match which is worth a lot.

“We know that Saturday is a match which can give us a lot if we could get a positive result.

“I think now we to pull out the unity of the group, that desire to win that we’ve had over the last few years and which has to make the difference for us this year.

“What matters most is that whoever goes on to the pitch on Saturday has to give their soul, contributing their own qualities, but we know that right now we’re a group and we lose and win together.

“That has to be our strength.

“We know that there will be a lot of suffering to do, and that it’ll take something even more than in previous years.”

Are the Bianconeri approaching this game differently than if they’d won against Napoli?

“There’s more pressure when you’re only a point ahead, but if there’s more pressure it means you have more malice in preparing and playing the game.

“What matters is that we understand the importance of this match.”

Finally, Barzagli was asked if he’ll sign a new contract with the Old Lady.

“Right now I’m focused on the pitch, what matters now is these games. We’ll see about everything else afterward.”
