Former Juventus defender Andrea Barzagli gives his verdict on Andrea Pirlo and explains why he doesn’t want to continue his career in football.

The Italy World Cup winner hung his boots in 2019 and worked as one of Maurizio Sarri’s assistants in the first part of the 2019-20 campaign.

“Some players wants to remain involved in the game becoming coaches or directors, I’m fine. I’m a little vicious and I like wine," the former defender told Juventus’ Twitch channel.

"Sometimes I play padel, I go running and I serve as taxi driver to bring my children back and forth,” he continued.

If Andrea Pirlo were a wine, what would he be?

“As a player, he was a great French wine, from Bordeaux, where great wines are produced. Pirlo was a great player. As a coach, I don’t know. He just started, but he is doing smart things.

“Andrea is perhaps the most envied coach by football fans and professionals. We’ve met occasionally in Turin and I saw him very convinced of wanting to be a coach.”
