Italy and Juventus legend Andrea Barzagli admits being disappointed by Romelu Lukaku at Roma this season: ‘He did just enough.’

Barzagli spoke to DAZN minutes before Roma’s final home game of the season against Genoa.

It is expected to be Lukaku’s last-ever home game at the Stadio Olimpico as Roma seem unwilling to make his move from Chelsea permanent.

“He did just enough,” Barzagli told DAZN.

“There was a bit of a difference between Mourinho and De Rossi, but as an impact, I expected something more from Lukaku, especially in terms of numbers.

“He and Dybala didn’t play much together, but I expected him to be more involved,” continued the former defender.

“Of course, Mourinho had a different playing style, he didn’t have many balls available. In this Roma side, he plays closer to the box, but he must be able to link up well with his teammates and I thought he’d have had a bigger impact.”

Lukaku has scored 20 goals in 46 appearances with Roma, including 12 in Serie A and six under De Rossi since January.

  1. Despite this criticism Lukaku overall is the best striker ever given, chance and support like other players in the league. He is not supported and I wonder why. Lukaku you are a great player, finish and klaar.
