Antonio Barreca is heading back to Serie A for Genoa just a year after he was sold to Monaco, with a loan spell at Newcastle United completed.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 24-year-old left-back will complete his transfer to Marassi on Monday.

He only joined Monaco for €10m last summer as part of the deal taking Soualiho Meite to Torino, then was loaned to Newcastle United in January.

The Magpies won’t take up their €9m option to buy, having paid €1.15m for the six-month loan.

Meanwhile, Genoa are also ready to sign Cristian Zapata as a free agent from Milan and full-back Pawel Jaroszynski from Chievo.

When it comes to Jaroszynski, it’s reported the deal will be worth just under €4m, but he’ll immediately go out on loan.
