Marco Baroni is likely to leave Verona this summer, so has been linked with the jobs at Cagliari and Monza, with Udinese also a possibility.

The coach managed an extraordinary comeback to secure Serie A safety, despite having practically half his Verona squad replaced during the January transfer window.

It is considered improbable that he will remain at the Stadio Bentegodi and is instead ready for the next step up in his career.

Baroni targeted by Cagliari and Monza

Cagliari had been the favourites, as they need someone to replace retiring Claudio Ranieri in Sardinia.

However, now Sky Sport Italia also suggest that Monza could approach Baroni should Raffaele Palladino decide to walk away at the end of this term.

A less likely candidate for his signature is Udinese, who only just hired Fabio Cannavaro for his debut Serie A job on a very short-term basis.

He managed to keep them in the top flight with a dramatic last day of the season victory away to Frosinone.
