Frosinone were relegated today after they blew a two-goal lead at Sassuolo, but Coach Marco Baroni believes it was their home form that “condemned” them to Serie B.

The Canarini are now 10 points adrift of Udinese in 17th position with just three games to go and will be playing football in the second tier from next season.

“There wasn’t much for me to say to the lads in the dressing room after the match,” the 55-year-old tactician told Radio Rai1 after the 2-2 draw.

“We’re going down, but the important thing is to finish the season as a team that goes on to the field to try and win.

“Today we played a good first half, but in the second we gave Sassuolo far too much space and time on the ball.

“We have three more games left and we want to do well for the club and for the fans, who I have to thank for their support today.”

The Ciociari won just one game at the Stadio Benito Stirpe all season, a 3-2 defeat of Parma at the start of April and it was that poor home form that led to their demotion.

“This team was capable of picking up some great results on the road, but we were not able to achieve any important victories at home.

“We went close against Roma, Lazio, and Torino, and those dropped points in those games condemned us to relegation, in my opinion.

“It is not the time to talk about my future, I’m still focused on these last three games, there will be plenty of time to talk after.”
