Marco Baroni feels that there is still room for improvement for Lazio, despite beating Torino, who had led the Serie A table heading into the weekend. The coach also explained why Matteo Guendouzi’s goal after eight minutes particularly pleased him.

The Biancocelesti picked up their third Serie A win of the season with an entertaining 3-2 victory away against Torino on Sunday morning. Guendouzi, Boulaye Dia and Tijjani Noslin came up with the Lazio goals, while Che Adams and Saul Coco got their third and second league goals of the season for Torino respectively.

Baroni explains Guendouzi satisfaction and where Lazio need to improve

Baroni was pleased with his players’ showing, particularly after going 3-1 up, but admitted that there are still parts of the game for his side to improve on, particularly in the defensive phases.

Overall, he is happy though, especially after a European away trip to face Dynamo Kyiv on Thursday.

“I say congratulations to the guys because we travelled during the week, which required a lot of energy,” Baroni said, reported via TMW.

“The team knows that it’s still growing. In terms of the performance, we are still missing a few things, but we are happy at the same time because we are producing and creating goalscoring opportunities.”

Baroni went on to explain why Guendouzi’s goal was particularly pleasing.

“We also get lots of players into shooting positions. Guendouzi’s goal makes me happy for example. The boys follow our instructions, now we move forwards with work, work, work.

“The team gives everything, even during the week. What made me sure of this is their willingness to work. I tell my players they have to play the same way that they train.

“It’s a shame to have conceded twice from certain situations, but we will improve in the defensive phases little by little as well.”
