New Frosinone Coach Marco Baroni promises “belief, enthusiasm and vigour,” plus he has been studying Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.

The Canarini axed Moreno Longo after picking up just one Serie A victory all season.

“We thought carefully about choosing Baroni, respecting the status and history of the club,” said President Maurizio Stirpe in the presentation Press conference.

“It’s not as if we can think Jose Mourinho will come here. We are humble people, we know where we came from and where we want to go, so we want to take that journey with people just as humble, who think Frosinone is their Manchester United.

“Baroni has signed on until 2020, regardless of whether we achieve Serie A safety. We hope he’ll be more fortunate than Longo and can keep us in Serie A.”

Baroni’s most recent role was with Benevento, but his Serie A record is of one draw and 11 defeats, scoring five goals and conceding 29.

“I am fuelled by enthusiasm and had not a moment of doubt before accepting,” said Baroni.

“I saw the words ‘ferocior ad bellandum’ on the club badge and that is one of the elements we must put on to the field. In this very difficult Serie A campaign, we must have belief, enthusiasm and vigour. Never dominated, never beaten.”

During his time out of work, Baroni visited Leeds United to watch Marcelo Bielsa in training.

“I always say that if you don’t win, then at least you learn. I went to Leeds to get to know a Coach like Bielsa who has a special way of interpreting football. A Coach never goes to copy, but to learn and get up to speed on different methodology.”

There is certainly one player who will be pleased to see Baroni arrive at Frosinone.

“I worked with Raman Chibsah at the Juventus youth academy, so I know him well and it’s good to see him again.”
