Benevento were promoted for the first time after a play-off victory over Carpi and until a year ago had never even played in Serie B.

“We must have the courage to create dangers for an opponent that deserves respect, but not fear. Sampdoria are relatively unchanged from last season and are particularly good at close-passing moves.

There was some bad news for Benevento, as Fabio Ceravolo and Raman Chibsah are out injured, while Massimo Coda also requires a fitness test.
