Fiorentina director Joe Barone confirms they’re working on a Dusan Vlahovic extension and have a non-disclosure agreement with ex-coach Gennaro Gattuso.

He was present in Milan at the ceremony where the fixtures for the 2021-22 Serie A season were drawn up.

“Our squad has been working well with Vincenzo Italiano. It’ll be an interesting campaign in which we’ll need the support of our fans,” Barone told reporters.

Italiano had to be bought out of his contract with Spezia after Gennaro Gattuso signed on and then terminated by mutual consent within 23 days due to a disagreement over transfer strategy.

“There is a non-disclosure agreement in place with Gattuso. We are now concentrated on the present and happy with Italiano, he’s a coach with great ethics, pride and patience who is already in sync with our fans.”

Barone was asked about some of the transfer stories around the Viola, including Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi and their star striker Vlahovic.

“We’re monitoring the team as it is and after the pre-season training we’ll see what we need to bring in,” replied Barone.

“Vlahovic is a Fiorentina player, he has two years on his contract and we are working constantly with his agent over an extension.

“Let’s also not forget we signed Nicolas Gonzalez and are practically the only Serie A club who put fresh funds into the market, so we have President Rocco Commisso to thank for that.”
