Joe Barone’s children arrived in Milan from New York on Monday morning to visit their father who had suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, before a Serie A game against Atalanta.
Barone’s children Pietro, Salvatore, Giuseppe and Gabriella arrived at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan from New York on Monday at 8:30 am local time, reports Italian sports papers, including La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The pink paper claims Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Pradé spent the whole night at the hospital where Barone is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest on Sunday.
Giovanni Nigro, a close friend of Barone and the person who projected the Viola Park, also arrived at the Hospital in Milan on Sunday and returned on Monday morning.
According to Gazzetta, Fiorentina President Rocco Commisso is not expected to arrive from the USA in the coming hours.
What happened to Fiorentina director Barone
Barone suffered a cardiac arrest on Sunday, hours before a Serie A match between the Tuscans and Atalanta in Bergamo. The game was postponed.
The Fiorentina director was rushed to the San Raffaele Hospital, where he underwent heart surgery on Sunday.
Fiorentina released a medical update on Sunday, saying that Barone’s condition remains “critical but stable”. The 58-year-old is currently hospitalised at the cardiac intensive care unit directed by Alberto Zangrillo.
A few Fiorentina players also remained in Milan on Sunday night and returned to Florence in the morning, while others, including Nico Gonzalez, Lucas Beltran and Giacomo Bonaventura, have joined their national teams.
La Viola are expected to release a second medical update on Monday.
