Bari are back in Serie B for the 2022-23 campaign after a four-year absence, having won the Serie C title by beating Latina.

They only needed a point to be sure, but Mirco Antenucci secured a 1-0 victory away to Latina this evening, booking their spot in Serie B with three rounds to spare.

The Stadio San Nicola side had to rebuild from the amateur divisions after bankruptcy in 2018 with debts of €12m and nobody to introduce fresh capital.

They were purchased and began again under the guidance of Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis and his son Luigi.

Bari were a Serie A mainstay during the 1990s and last appeared in the Italian top flight in 2010-11.

Among their star names at the time were players like Antonio Cassano, Igor Protti, Leonardo Bonucci, Gianluca Zambrotta, England international David Platt and South Africa’s Phil Masinga.
