Milan legend Franco Baresi stressed the Rossoneri can’t forget their ‘history’ in the Champions League, as they prepare for a tough group against Atletico Madrid, FC Porto and Liverpool.

The Diavolo are back in the prestigious competition after eight years and Baresi stressed Milan would have needed some luck to avoid the best teams in the competition.

In group B, the Rossoneri prepare to face the La Liga champions, the Champions League winners from 2018-19 and the quarter-finalists from last year’s edition.

“Clearly, starting from the fourth pot, we had to be lucky to have a simpler group,” Baresi told Sky Sport Italia. “It’s very difficult, but I think that Milan must never forget its history.

“We are back in the Champions League and we will play the games with great enthusiasm. It’s a great group, but we must enjoy this moment.

“The lads and the team want to do well. Atletico are always difficult to beat, Porto are tough, and Liverpool are strong and have quality.

“For many, it’s also their first participation in the Champions League. We have a young team that have grown in recent years.

“Milan showed beautiful and proactive football, we must not lose our convictions.”
