Former Milan centre-back Franco Baresi said ‘few others can give you what the Rossoneri give you’, but stressed the decisions to leave the club ‘must be respected’.

After Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu left the club this summer, the contractual problems continue with Franck Kessie, who has not reached an agreement to extend with the Diavolo.

The World Cup winner won three European Cups and six Scudetti during his career and said everyone at Milan will know the important history of the club.

Kessie agent: ‘Milan need contract up to his standards’

“I think anyone who plays for Milan knows the history,” Baresi told Sportweek. “Either he feels it deep inside, or it makes sense for him to make choices other than staying. Choices that must be respected.

“Milan is one of the biggest clubs in the world and few others can give you what Milan give you. There’s nothing more to say.”

Rumours have suggested Franco Baresi was rejected by Inter, but revealed he never went to trials trials with the team.

“Inter followed me,” he admitted. “But I never tried out because the scout who followed me passed away, and I was not called up.

“I went to Linate to try out for Milan, who then summoned me to Milanello for the definitive test. Then they decided to sign me. I have always been a Milan fan.”
