The fans voted for Barella, who was handed the SportMediaset Gentleman Award at the Beneamata and was pleased with the recognition.

“It’s something that gives me great pleasure,” Barella told the broadcaster. “I thank those who thought of me. I will always try to be an example.

“Celebrating the Scudetto with the fans would have been a great thrill, it was already so good. I can only imagine what it would have been.”

But after winning his first Scudetto, Barella now targets another dream of winning the European Championship with the national team this summer.

“It would be a great satisfaction,” he said. “For now, I enjoy this and then we will see what the future holds.”
