Nicolò Barella reveals how he mocked Romelu Lukaku’s legendary first touch after his brilliant Inter goal to beat Sampdoria 3-0. ‘We have a lot of fun.’

It was a fourth consecutive Serie A victory for the Nerazzurri, who brushed relegation battlers Samp aside with a Stefan de Vrij header, Joaquin Correa run from his own half and the sensational Barella goal.

He trapped a long Alessandro Bastoni ball over the top with a fantastic first touch and smashed into the roof of the net with his second.

This was the third Serie A game in a row on target for the midfielder, who now has six goals and five assists in 15 competitive matches.

“You win games with goals, fortunately we’re scoring a lot of them lately and must try not to concede, but we’re on the right track,” Barella told Sky Sport Italia.

It wasn’t the first time that Bastoni’s searching pass over the top has sent Bastoni running towards goal, as he scored a similar goal last season against Juventus.

“Let’s say the lads know my movements, Basto is excellent at placing the ball there – not just at doing that – so I was ready.”

Lukaku made his comeback midweek from two months out injured and tonight returned in Serie A too, but Barella ran to the touchline to hug the Belgian after his goal. It turns out, the midfielder had something special to tell his teammate.

“I told him see, that’s how you do a first touch! I was joking, we always play around and make fun of each other, it’s a great group of lads and we have a lot of fun.

“I went to salute the guys on the bench, as they give us a lot of support and contribute even when they aren’t playing.”

Barella famously loves his wine, but assured there would be no fresh bottle to celebrate tonight.

“We’ve got to play again soon, no wine!”
