Samuel Umtiti is expected to land in Italy tomorrow to complete his move from Barcelona to Lecce, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

The Puglian side are on the verge of pulling off one of the surprises of the summer transfer window, picking up the 2018 World Cup winner on loan from the Blaugrana. Umtiti’s career has been derailed by injuries over the last few years and he’s keen for a breath of fresh air as he looks to relaunch his career.

As detailed by Di Marzio, Barcelona and Lecce are now exchanging the necessary paperwork to complete Umtiti’s loan move. Reports suggest that the Spanish giants will pay the vast majority of the Frenchman’s salary, with the Puglian side only paying a small amount.

Umtiti is set to land in Italy tomorrow and he’s expected to undergo his medicals before putting pen to paper on his contract. He could be integrated into the squad in time for the upcoming clash against Empoli on Sunday, although it’s hard to imagine him starting.
