Barcelona won’t outbid Juventus for Depay

According to Spanish papers, Juventus have offered Memphis Depay a huge salary package and Barcelona won’t get drawn into a bidding war.

Depay is a free agent after his contract with Olympique Lyonnais was allowed to run down.

He had been widely expected to join Barcelona, especially after coach Ronald Koeman took over, but negotiations have stalled.

Juve took advantage of the hesitation to dive in with a proposal, which Mundo Deportivo claim is worth €3m more per season than the Barca offer.

Now Diario AS maintains the Blaugrana are not going to let themselves get drawn into a bidding war with Juventus.

Their contract offer to Depay remains unchanged and they are hoping the Dutchman will choose them regardless.

It’d be another heavy blow for the Catalans, who already lost another free agent – Georginio Wijnaldum – to PSG.
