Milan look set to lose Franck Kessie on a free transfer in the summer and Barcelona have suddenly gone to the front of the queue ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 25-year-old Ivory Coast international has failed to agree terms for a new deal at San Siro and his contract will expire on June 30.

If the Rossoneri were hoping to get a January sale to Tottenham, it was reported this week that his agent turned down that option, as he wouldn’t receive the same massive signing-on bonus.

Now Radio Catalunya claim that Barcelona are ‘very interested’ in signing Kessie as a free agent in July.

The Premier League had been the supposed first choice for the former Atalanta midfielder, with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham particularly eager.

Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal were also contenders, while Paris Saint-Germain have long been tracking his progress.

Kessie has five goals and one assist in 21 games for Milan this season between Serie A and the Champions League.

He is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with the Ivory Coast.
