Mascherano was repeatedly linked with a move to Napoli over the summer, but resisted a reunion with his old Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.
He won’t be playing against what could’ve been his new club, as Mascherano is absent along with Messi, Xavi, Dani Alves and Luis Suarez.
