The Ajax defender had agreed personal terms with Juve weeks ago and the two clubs have also seemingly now worked out a transfer fee for €65m plus bonuses.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona President Josep Bartomeu called De Ligt personally to request a meeting, with the Dutchman requesting agent Mino Raiola be informed.
At this point, Raiola told Barcelona that an encounter could only happen if they matched both the Juventus transfer fee and personal terms.
However, the Blaugrana pulled out and definitively abandoned their hopes of signing De Ligt.
The 19-year-old is expected in Turin this evening, so he can undergo a medical tomorrow morning.
Juve are hoping to make a point with this date, as it is a year on from the day since Cristiano Ronaldo landed at the Caselle Airport.
