According to Sport.es, Barcelona have set their sights on Alessio Romagnoli and a swap deal with Miralem Pjanic or Coutinho could be on the cards if one of them takes a pay cut.

Romagnoli will see his contract expire in June 2022 and the Spanish outlet confirms it’s unlikely the Italian centre-back will reach an agreement to extend his stay at the club.

Therefore, the Serie A giants are trying to find an escape route, which Barcelona could offer.

The Ligue 1 giants rate Romagnoli very highly, although they need to sell a few players before making an official bid for the former Sampdoria man.

According to the report, a swap deal between Barcelona and Milan could be on the cards, as the Diavoli have set their sights on Miralem Pjanic and Philippe Coutinho.

However, the two parties won’t finalise the deal if one of the two players doesn’t agree to take a pay cut to move to San Siro.

Reports in Italy suggest Barcelona are ‘in pole position’ to sign Romagnoli, but according to Sport, the two clubs are not in advanced talks for the 26-year-old who has many admirers at the Nou Camp.
