Barcelona are set to compete with Juventus and Milan for River Plate forward Julian Alvarez, with their interest heating up in recent days.

The 21-year-old Argentinian striker has been on fire this season for the Millonarios with 18 goals and seven assists in 21 league matches, attracting the attention of many of the top European clubs.

Milan moved for Alvarez well in advance, sending scouts to Argentina to follow him more closely, whilst Juventus have requested information on the player. Inter are also considering the 21-year-old as a possible idea.

Scouted by Paratici, could end up in Serie A: who is River starlet Julian Alvarez?

River Plate are working on offering a contract renewal for Alvarez, with his current deal set to expire in December 2022, and the player is evaluating the idea of signing one or two-year renewal, although it’s clear that the €25m release clause cannot be changed or removed.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Barcelona are now looking to enter the fray for Alvarez. The Blaugrana would be helped by a contract renewal, as they are favouring a loan deal with a buy option attached rather than an outright purchase.

Alvarez has previously stated his excitement at possibly playing for Barcelona one day and so the Catalan side’s interest will force Juventus and Milan to work quickly if they want to iron out a deal before a future in Spain is confirmed.

4 thought on “Barcelona to beat Juventus and Milan to signing Alvarez?”
  1. A club that is a complete mess, and with a huge chance of not playing the UCL next year and who knows if more years? And also in a complete financial disaster? Julian would be a fool to go to that club honestly…

  2. The South Americans love Barca. I cannot blame him but someone should update him on their financial situation.

It cannot be compared to other clubs.
