Barca’s pursuit of Verratti has become protracted due to Paris Saint-Germain’s reluctance to sell the midfielder, but technical secretary Robert Fernandez is happy to remain patient.

“We still have time. We’re following our objectives with great care,” he said at a Press conference.

“If an opportunity arises, we’ll try to take it, but it’s not easy to buy a player who has a contract with an important club.”

Reports had also suggested Barca were preparing to include Gomes or Rakitic in any deal.

However, Coach Ernesto Valverde insisted: “I’m counting on both players next season.

“For me, they’re not for sale. I’ll work with both Gomes and Rakitic.”
