But Ter Stegen also claimed that the Champions League is always “the main objective” for the Blaugrana ahead of their round of 16 against Napoli.

“I’m very convinced of what we are doing. We have many good players,” the goalkeeper told Mundo Deportivo. “We want to make the most fun we can have, and we’re always 100 per cent prepared for these challenges.

“The last few weeks we have adapted to the new coach. We must know how to suffer, but we want to give the best possible version of us to win and play in these games.

“The Champions League is the main objective for us every year, we all have the desire to go far, even if it’s always very difficult.

“It’s a difficult game that awaits us, but we know that we will leave everything on the pitch to get a good result and then finish off the job at Camp Nou in the return leg.”
