Hellas Verona forward Antonin Barak has revealed he was on the verge of completing a move to Milan during his time at Udinese.
The 26-year-old joined Verona on a permanent deal ahead of the new campaign, after spending 2020-21 on loan at the Bentegodi.
The Czech Republic international arrived from Udinese, where he spent three years between 2017 and 2020.
Barak had a stint on loan at Lecce too and the Bianconeri eventually doubled their investment when they sold the former Slavia Prague man to Verona for €6m in July.
The attacking midfielder has scored five goals in 13 Serie A games this term and continues to impress under Igor Tudor, as he is only two goals behind his total tally in the league last season.
In an interview with DAZN, the Verona star admitted he was on the verge of moving to Milan, before Udinese decided to keep him at the Dacia Arena.
“Yes, yes,” Barak answered when asked if the rumours of a Milan move were true. “I was heading to Milan, but then Udinese didn’t want to sell me.”
Barak, capped 28 times by Czech Republic, has since settled in well at Verona and his situation at the Bentegodi is being monitored by the Serie A giants.
Verona are currently ninth in Serie A with 19 points from 13 matches and are currently six points behind the top four in Italy.
