“I’m excited, it’s nice to return to the pitch after a year and a half, even if it’s only a Primavera game,” Balzaretti told Roma Radio after the match.
“It’s only a small step toward returning to the levels I was at before. The minimum goal was to return, now I want to get back the level I was at before.
“Joining back up with the squad was the most important thing, because when being with them is what you’re used to it’s hard to stand apart and work by yourself.
“To be back with them is like a drug which you missed when you didn’t have it.
“The call-up? The Coach gave me this gift, I want to thank him, because to be called after just a week with the squad is something really nice.”
