The striker hit the back of the net at the San Paolo, but Napoli’s 2-1 win changes the order in Group A.

“It was an important goal, but if I’d scored another two then it would’ve been better,” SuperMario told Sky Sport Italia.

“As for qualification, you never know. Today Napoli win, tomorrow they could lose and it all changes.”

Napoli will go through if they beat Villarreal in Spain, while even less than that can be enough if Manchester City fail to defeat Bayern Munich.

“I think I have matured for a while now, but the results have only just started coming. We played well tonight and just missed the goal.

“In Italy the defenders are much more tactical, while in England they’re more physical, so a striker with my characteristics is better off in England.

“I prefer to be a centre-forward, but as long as I am in attack, it’s fine by me.”
