Adana Demirspor striker Mario Balotelli will be out of action for the next few months after undergoing an operation.

The 33-year-old Italian striker returned to the Turkish side in September after a disastrous year in Switzerland with FC Sion, where he fell out with the fans and accused the league of corruption.

Things had started well for Balotelli this term, scoring three goals across five Super Lig appearances, leading some to believe that the ever-divisive striker could finally be finding his footing after a tumultuous few years.

As announced by Adana Demirspor president Murat Sancak via TMW, Balotelli will have to undergo an operation for an unnamed injury, possibly to his knee, which’ll force him out of action for around two to three months.

The 33-year-old striker has suffered a handful of minor injuries over the last few years but had avoided any major stops up until this stage. His last multi-month absence came in the 2015-16 season, when he missed nine games for Milan due to a groin issue.
