The striker scored the first goal of his second spell with the Rossoneri in Tuesday’s win over Udinese, winning praise for keeping a cool head after rough treatment from Zebrette defenders.

“I told him to prove that he’s changed, not with talk,” Montolivo told Premium Sport.

Milan captain Riccardo Montolivo praises Mario Balotelli’s “maturity” but “we’ll see if he’s changed or not”.

The striker scored the first goal of his second spell with the Rossoneri in Tuesday’s win over Udinese, winning praise for keeping a cool head after rough treatment from Zebrette defenders.

“I told him to prove that he’s changed, not with talk,” Montolivo told Premium Sport.

“He’s doing that. He was provoked throughout the game, but he showed maturity. At Christmas we’ll add everything up and see if he has changed or not.”

Diavolo Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic emphasised the need for clean sheets before the Udinese game, but saw his side concede twice, and Montolivo admits they have to improve at the back.

“League titles are won by the best defences, not the best attack, history teaches us that. We have to improve in that respect, and we’re trying to do that every day.

“But on the flipside, in times of difficulty, the team will always be there.”
