Mario Balotelli has revealed which of Milan’s two most recent first choice goalkeepers he would rather play alongside out of current stopper Mike Maignan and Italy’s no. 1 Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The two ‘keepers faced off against each other when Milan rose to a 2-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at San Siro in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

Balotelli, a recent guest on TvPlay, spoke in-depth about Tuesday’s encouraging result in Europe, while also discussing the goalkeepers, whom many tip to be among the best in the world.

Balotelli explained that, having already played alongside him, Donnarumma would be his first choice out of the two.

“Maignan is always attentive, he always wants to play it fast. He is unique because of that. But I am fond of Gigio, I played with him and I know him, therefore – having to choose between the two – I would definitely take Donnarumma.”

He continued: “I hope he takes Italy to the Euros and proves to those who tease him that he is a very strong goalkeeper.”

Donnarumma and Balotelli overlapped briefly at both club and international level, playing the 2015-16 season together with Milan, while also being part of multiple Italy training camps together.

On Tuesday’s game, Balotelli added: “The atmosphere was nice, going to see Milan is always nice. In the Champions League, you feel it even more. I experienced it as a fan, but my mind was on the pitch, so I certainly wanted Milan to win.”

  1. He is the worst and and most overhyped talent of his generation.. Only problem with this donkey who changed 33 teams in 10 years because nobody wanted him.
