Balotelli, Kaka, Taarabt: Milan’s line-up in their last meeting with Atletico

Milan played Atletico Madrid in their last Champions League game before being seven years absent, check out the line-up from the game in 2014.

Clarence Seedorf was in charge of the Rossoneri the last time they played Diego Simeone’s men in the round of 16, and the Argentine is still in charge of the Colchoneros when they arrive at San Siro tonight.

Diego Costa played up front for Atletico, while Mario Balotelli was the lone striker of the Diavolo, with Adel Taarabt and Kaka part of the trident behind the former Italy international.

The first leg ended in a 1-0 defeat at San Siro, the last time Milan played at home in the Champions League.

Diego Costa scored the only goal of the game in the fashion capital, and the Brazilian-born Spain forward was ruthless in the return leg too.

Milan’s adventure in the Champions League ended in a 5-1 defeat on aggregate, as Diego Costa opened the scoring after only three minutes.

Kaka responded to give hope for the Rossoneri, but Arda Turan, Raul Garcia and a second from Diego Costa made sure the Rojiblancos sent Milan home with a heavy defeat and a bad memory from the European cup.

Milan didn’t qualify for the prestigious competition until this season and are drawn Atletico Madrid in the group stage of the 2021-22 season. Tonight, the Rossoneri host Simeone’s men at San Siro.
