Mario Balotelli assures he would’ve ‘made everyone else’ take the knee at UEFA EURO 2020 if he had been in the Italy squad.

The Azzurri managed to make everyone unhappy with their official response to the debate over whether to take the knee and join the Black Lives Matter protest before kick-off.

They came together as a team and decided to take the knee out of ‘solidarity’ if the other side was going to, but stand if they weren’t, and not entirely agreeing with the form of this anti-racism protest.

During a social media Q&A, Euro 2012 star Balotelli was asked if the squad’s approach would’ve been different if he – or indeed any other black Italian players – were part of the group.

“Of course I would’ve taken the knee and I would’ve made everyone else do the same,” was SuperMario’s response.

However, when someone asked if Italy could’ve done with someone like him right now, he couldn’t help but point to the 32-match unbeaten run.

“They are doing very well without me, but thanks for the thought!”

The Nazionale will face Spain in the EURO 2020 semi-final on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium.

Balotelli is currently a free agent after a brief spell with Serie B side Monza.
