Mario Balotelli admits he was “angry with myself” for failing to score in Italy’s defeat to Uruguay.

“I am angry with myself, as I was unlucky and the ball didn’t want to go in the net,” he told RAI Sport after the 1-0 home loss.

“We’re going to Poland and Ukraine to win, otherwise it’s the end of the world!”

SuperMario was in a joking mood with journalists, but also went back to this morning’s meeting with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano.

The Head of State gave a speech to the squad and mentioned the children of immigrants who are born in Italy and “feel 100 per cent Italian,” but cannot get citizenship until they turn 18.

“It was a wonderful morning and I felt like some issues really affected me, so I was moved.”
