Bayern Munich and Poland striker Robert Lewandowski was the favourite to pick up the award in 2020, but France Football decided to cancel the event due to coronavirus.

But tonight, the ceremony for the biggest individual award in the game is back to honour the European footballers.

At what time does the Ballon d’Or 2021 ceremony start?

Theatre du Chatelet in Paris hosts the Ballon d’Or ceremony, where the Men’s and the Women’s winners will be decided on November 29, 2021.

The Kopa Trophy for the best Under-21 player and the Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper will also be awarded tonight.

The ceremony starts at 19.30 UK time.

The Ballon d’Or ceremony will be available on L’Equipe’s YouTube channel from 19.30 UK time, while viewers in the UK can watch the show on a free live stream.

List of nominees for Ballon d’Or 2021

There are five Italians on the list of 30 nominees for the Ballon d’Or 2021, including Jorginho and Gianluigi Donnarumma who are playing abroad at Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.

Five of the nominees play in Serie A, with Inter striker Lautaro Martinez and Milan defender Simon Kjaer on the list of names in the running.

  4. I disagree. He missed penalties, yes, but so did the greatest footballers in big matches.

    That doesn’t change that he had a great year last year. He definitely did better than Messi!
