Fode Ballo-Toure admits he ‘shed tears’ after scoring in stoppages for Milan’s victory away to Empoli and reveals the cheeky message he got from coach Stefano Pioli.

The Rossoneri proved once again they do not give in, as the reigning champions were pegged back to 1-1 at the 92nd minute at the Stadio Castellani by a Nedim Bajrami free kick.

However, they fought back again with two more goals in stoppages from Ballo-Toure and Rafael Leao to secure the 3-1 victory.

It was a strong response from a side that was coming off the first defeat in 22 Serie A rounds, but also a surprise to see this goal from a defender who hadn’t found the net since playing for the PSG B-team over six years ago.

“I am very happy, it is my first goal and I did shed some tears,” confessed Ballo-Toure on Sky Sport Italia.

He rarely gets to play and was only starting this evening because Theo Hernandez is injured.

“I always work hard in training and today… golazo! I dedicate the goal to my mother.”

The Senegal international was asked what Pioli told him after the final whistle.

“He told me to say tell you that he is the best coach in the world!”
