“I haven’t planned out a map towards safety, as we must always be concentrated on the next match coming up,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

The Grifone were twice trailing on home turf this evening, but a Goran Pandev brace allowed them to claw it back.

“I haven’t planned out a map towards safety, as we must always be concentrated on the next match coming up,” the coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“What we’ve done so far will only matter if we keep up this momentum. Since I arrived here, we’ve picked up 26 points in 19 games.

“Now what we have to do is maintain that level from here to the end of the season and not let up.”

Cagliari’s win away to Udinese put the cat among the pigeons, because the race for safety is now extended all the way to mid-table.

Genoa, Spezia and Fiorentina are all on 33 points, Torino 31 (with a game in hand) and Cagliari in the drop zone now have 28.

Parma and Crotone are practically doomed, so there is just one more relegation spot to be assigned.
