'To think that football can be something only for the few makes me cringe. It's not the sport I've loved since I was a child,' says Genoa coach Davide Ballardini.

Il Grifone host Benevento at the Stadio Ferraris tomorrow, but the creation of a European Super League has been the main talking point during pre-match press conferences in Italy and Europe.

"I've raised with the passion and the dream to face the best sides. Football belongs to people. It's about solidarity and the common good," Ballardini said in his press-conference.

"The game against Benevento will be crucial for us," Ballardini said, talking about tomorrow's game.

“We played a good game against Milan, we played on a par, but tomorrow’s game is just another game. Benevento are a strong side, with a clear idea of how to stay on the pitch.

“They are having a great season. They have quality players who are proving their worth. We must be up to the task.”
