“Physically we are in good shape, but the table tells us it is a very difficult moment for the team,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“Yet we are aware that it still all depends on us, because in my view Palermo have the sporting and human qualities to do very well for the rest of the season and achieve our objective.”

The Sicilians now sit in penultimate place, while Frosinone are third from bottom, so this really is a desperate dogfight.

“I don’t believe it is a Last Chance Saloon. At least I really hope not. We want to put in a great performance against Frosinone so we can continue climbing over the next few games.”

Aljaz Struna and Roberto Vitiello are both suspended for this trip, but Ballardini hinted he will drop veteran hitman Alberto Gilardino to the bench.

“Gilardino is a champion and he knows that the good of the team comes first and foremost.”
