Davide Ballardini wants a ‘concentrated’ Genoa against Parma on Friday and is not worried about Mattia Destro's current goal drought.

The Rossoblu coach pointed at the continuity at the Ducali and said the Grifone must be ‘compact’ to get away with something at the Ennio Tardini.

“The coach has been there for five years, only this season he was absent for a short while,” Ballardini said at a press conference. “Five consecutive seasons are not to be compared to the few months in which I worked here.

“I have been here for several seasons but always for a few months, everything changes. We face a team that has a established technical guide, they know each other well, they have done well lately, achieving important results.

“They were also very unfortunate in my opinion, it will be difficult to deal with them. They are good if you aren’t compact. They have enthusiastic and quick players.

“They have players like [Juraj] Kucka and [Jasmin] Kurtic, who are very good at entering spaces, they have many solutions, you must keep concentrated.”

Genoa have climbed to 14th with Ballardini at the helm but haven’t won since the run of three consecutive victories between January 24 and February 6.

Ballardini’s men have picked up four points from their last six games.

“We must always look at the table, we are lacking the win but not the performance in recent games,” he said. “We have always played our game, we must continue.

“Performance and attitude are important.”

Mattia Destro has scored nine goals in 21 games for the Rossoblu but has not scored since the brace against Crotone on January 31.

“Since I arrived, Destro has not missed one day,” Ballardini continued. “To show how stimulated he is. He must continue like this.”
