“There is no more time to waste. Roma are trailing and obviously every game has to be treated as a Final now. We have to quickly rediscover our quality,” director general Baldissoni told Mediaset Premium.

There were reports today that director of sport Sabatini will resign after the transfer window in order to join Bologna next season.

“I read a lot of rubbish… Roma expected to be further ahead in the table, but that doesn’t mean we have to stage a revolution every week.

“The director will stay in his place and is currently working on the transfer market. He will remain there. We will evaluate the situation only at the end of the season. The things that don’t work imply more effort to improve ourselves. The responsibility is to be shared out.

“Luciano Spalletti’s objective is to rediscover Roma, put us in a condition to express our quality and get back to the level where we belong, finding a place in the Champions League.”

Stephan El Shaarawy and Ervin Zukanovic make their debuts tonight, but there are still talks to sell Seydou Doumbia to Fenerbahce, Newcastle United or Aston Villa, while Diego Perotti is expected to arrive from Genoa.

“Doumbia is on the way out. He returned from his loan and can find a solution elsewhere,” confirmed Baldissoni.

“Perotti’s situation is separate and they are not tied together. There’s another day and more to the end of the transfer market and as you know I don’t like to talk about it.”
