According to Il Tempo newspaper, former director Baldini could return for his third spell at the Stadio Olimpico.

Baldini left originally to work with Fabio Capello at Real Madrid and then for England, returned in 2011 and went again for Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.

He resigned from the Spurs post in September 2015.

It’s reported that for the moment Baldini would be at Roma as a ‘consultant’ or outside operative based in London.

If Sabatini does go through with his threat to leave, then Baldini would be in pole position as director of sport.
