Bakayoko responds to racist abuse

Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko is confident the club will identify those Lazio fans who targeted him and Franck Kessié with racist abuse yesterday.

Bakayoko has returned to Milan on an initial loan deal from Chelsea and made his first appearance of the season against Lazio coming off the bench on Sunday.

However, his return to San Siro was ruined by a bunch of Lazio fans who chanted a racist song while the player was about to enter the pitch.

Bakayoko responded to racist abuse with an Instagram post where he revealed his teammate Franck Kessié was also targeted by Lazio fans.

“Thank you for the warm welcome Rossoneri. I’m unfortunately injured for my debut but the most important are the 3 points from the team,” he wrote.

“And to some Lazio fans and their racist cries towards me and my brother Franck Kessié we are strong and proud of our skin colour. I have all confidence in our club to identify them.”

It remains to be seen how long Bakayoko will remain out of action due to his injury. Milan face Liverpool on Wednesday in their first Champions League match in more than seven years.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger showed his support for his former teammate, by commenting on the social media post with a heart emoji.
