Italian reports suggest Tiemoue Bakayoko has rejected a contract extension at Chelsea, as he wants a return to Milan this summer.

The midfielder turns 27 in August and his current deal at Stamford Bridge expires in June 2022.

He was signed from Monaco for €40m in 2017, but spent most of the last few years on loan at Milan, Monaco and this season Napoli.

None of the clubs were prepared to meet the asking price to keep him on a permanent basis and Bakayoko reportedly wants to take his future back under control.

Sky Sport Italia and MilanNews.it are confident Bakayoko has rejected a contract extension proposal from Chelsea, as he wants to make a return to the Rossoneri, where he played in 2018-19.

With only one year left to run on his contract, it remains to be seen if Chelsea will accept a low offer from Milan, or a loan with obligation to buy.
