Milan have announced the club has sent a ‘complaint to the Federal Prosecutor’ after Tiemoue Bakayoko was allegedly racially abused by Lazio fans.

The French midfielder made his comeback in the Rossoneri shirt in the second half of the home game against the Aquile on Sunday.

Bakayoko racially abused by Lazio fans

But reports in Italy claimed his first appearance this season was ruined by the Biancocelesti fans and Milan have confirmed they are taking action.

“AC Milan announces that it has decided to present a complaint to the Federal Prosecutor, so that the chants coming from the visiting supporters’ sector are clarified during Milan vs. Lazio,” the statement said.

The Diavolo won the match 2-0 and Bakayoko responded to the racist abuse on social media after the game.

  1. Great but what are the chances of meaningful action? How long have Lazio been known for this? Having a name for being racist among Italian football fans takes some work by the way.

‘Having a name for being racist among Italian football fans takes some work by the way.’

What are you trying to say exactly?

  3. Football Italia doesn’t like people providing alternative viewpoints. Petty censorship is validation of the censored.

  4. @DAVid – what alternative viewpoint? That racism is okay? That the Lazio fans were justified? Is there a story about Bakayoko insulting each and every Lazio Ultra to their faces and their retaliation was abusing him at the game? Did Football Italia bury this story?
Should they encourage a post form a member of the Lazio fanbase that is a fascist and hate people of African descent? Note I am not saying all lazio fans are facists and/or racists.
Expand on what you mean, please.

  5. @rosario You know what I’m saying. Italian ultras in particular have a long history of blatant racism. Lazio are very well known for it.

  6. @DB Milan.

WOW!! Long history of blatant racism? More like you have a long history of blatantly stereotyping and talking nonsense.

I could say the same about umpteenth football clubs in England. James McClean gets ‘sectarian’ abuse every single week. He has received this from sections of fans of nearly every club whenever he is playing away or around the poppy farce time. Just this weekend, an Aston villa player was also on the end of sectarian abuse by a chelsea fan at stamford bridge. Are all of these clubs have long history of blatant racism as well?

A club with thousands and thousands of fans get let down by a minority of idiots and they’re all racist? Which other Italian ultras? A few idiots in Sardegna?

Have you ever been to a game in Italy? I very much doubt it. England fans racially abusing their own players, and does that mean all of their fans have a long history of blatant racism?

  7. @DB Milan.

When you say ‘lazio have a long history’ is to basically implicate an entire football club. Is it somehow in the club’s charter to encourage these idiots? You went and ignorantly called them Nazio….does Lazio have a right wing agenda? Does their president somehow encourage ignorance spewed by a minority of lacking in education idiots? Denigrating the name of a proud club…well done.

Come to Italy, watch a football match, interact with people, get out of your bedroom…you might just change your mind.

  8. @rosario Apparently I hit a nerve. I have been to Italian football matches, thank you. I am also well educated in the history of Italian football, more than you it seems.

I never said other countries don’t have the same issue, nor did I label all Lazio fans (thats all in your head, likely due to your aggressive reaction) but Lazio (Nazio) whether you care to admit it or not are notorious for it. They are historically a right wing club. I suggest you look into the history and indeed more recent times.

That’s the issue with racism, you admit it and you might be able to fix it. Until then Lazio will remain the Millwall of Italy.

  9. @DB Milan

How old are you? When you say you have been at the stadium it Matters when and where.

Nowadays right wing used to be considered the liberal but you go on the bandwagon.
