Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko was allegedly racially abused by Lazio fans before entering the pitch in the second half at San Siro.

Bakayoko made his Milan return in the summer, moving from Chelsea on an initial loan deal with an option to buy.

He made his ‘second’ debut with the Serie A giants in the second half of their home clash with Lazio on Sunday, but according to Tuttomercatoweb, his first season appearance was ruined by a bunch of Biancocelesti fans.

Bakayoko replaced Franck Kessié after 61 minutes and according to the report, he was racially abused by some fans chanting a racist song that was ‘clearly audible.’

The group of fans repeated the song at least three times, according to the report.

Bakayoko has a story with Lazio. Back in 2019, he mocked their defender Francesco Acerbi by showing his jersey under the Curva after a Rossoneri win at San Siro. Clearly, nothing can ever justify racist abuse from anybody.

Lazio could face the consequences if the federal prosecutor’s inspectors heard the sickening chants.

  1. As a Lazio fan, the club needs to desperately do “something”.

Their fans’ behaviour with racism and politics is abhorrent.

As a boyhood Lazio fan, and a Muslim, I am beginning to question why I identify as a fan of this club.

I have no doubt in my mind if I were to attend a Lazio game, I would be subject to some form of racist abuse and I am questioning my attachment to this club now.

There has been very little to combat this by the club – the Hysaj episode a few months ago is telling.

HAHA. You really need to get out and actually go to a game. No one will racially abuse you. As it was during the euro as well as umpteenth examples, these are pockets of uneducated idiots who make up a small minority of thousands of fans inside of a stadium. Don’t allow the actions of a few idiots to cloud your judgement / admiration for your team. By the same token, I could say I would never attend an England game, just because of racists. But we all know that would be a massive exaggeration.
