Milan midfielder Tiémoué Bakayoko confirms being whistled by the fans “doesn’t please me” but “I understand”.

The French international joined the Rossoneri on loan from Chelsea in the summer, but struggled to win over the San Siro crowd with his early displays.

“The whistles don’t please me, but I understand,” Bakayoko explained in an interview with Sky.

“I hope they’ll applaud me soon. I’ve done some good things, but we’re only at the beginning. I hope to be decisive and make Milan one of the best four teams in Serie A.

“I feel best in the 4-4-2 formation, but I also felt comfortable in the 4-3-3 in the last game [against Juventus].

“I could have helped more and I’m sorry about the result, but unfortunately that’s foootball. I’m happy with the way I played though.

“Franck Kessié has helped me to settle in, especially in terms of learning the language, and I hope to be able to speak Italian soon.”

Bakayoko worked under Antonio Conte last season, and he’s now being coached by another fiery Italian in the form of Gennaro Gattuso.

“Conte and Gattuso are a bit similar. They give a lot, and they ask the same from their players in return, both in the game in training.

“They have the same way of working.”
