Italy legend Roberto Baggio says Gianluca Vialli’s death is ‘hard to accept.’

The ‘ Divine Ponytail’ released a brief statement published by Ansa following the death of his former Juventus teammate Vialli.

“It’s always hard to accept and understand the mystery of life, especially when you are taken away from the affection of your loved ones so early,” said Baggio.

“Dear Gianluca, I wish your heavenly journey to be surrounded by a soft light for your eternal rest.

“My deepest thoughts are with his wife, children, parents, brothers and close friends. With your smile and joy, bring your beloved football up there too. Your courage and your precious example will remain with us forever. Good trip Gianluca.”

Vialli had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2017. He stepped down as Italy’s delegation chief in December after covering the role for over two years, including during the Euros, won by the Azzurri.

Vialli played for Cremonese, Sampdoria, Juventus and Chelsea, winning, among other things, one Champions League and two Serie A titles, including the only one in the history of the Blucerchiati.
